Parenting decisions / 04Tell us whether the issue is a holiday, an emergency trip or a permanent move. We review the child’s location, proposed destination, dates, passport arrangements and any order, consent or restriction. A lawful travel plan needs more than possession of the child’s passport or a booking confirmation.
Relocation can affect schooling, care, contact and the ability to enforce arrangements. We assess the proposed request and supporting information, including how the child’s needs would be met and how the relationship with the other parent would continue. Advice in the destination country may also be necessary.
Where travel may be imminent without the required permission, raise the date at once. Any request to restrict travel or seek permission must be reviewed for its legal basis. Do not assume that an application will be accepted or that a message to the team creates a restriction.
